` The Truth (Honesty) - Drama Platters `

The Truth (Honesty)

December 16, 2016

The Truth (Honesty)

In the last weeks, I have watched a very old drama called Honesty.. It was from 2000's nearly 17 years old as I am writing my views on it.

I never thought that I would love this drama this much, I thought it would be boring but not at all..
Once you got hooked you don't want to stop watching.

Once you get hooked you can not stop the drama.

The drama begins with a celebration, and then a horrible car accident that lands three young people – two girls and a boy in the hospital, one of them is in critical condition. From that moment, we flash back to the beginnings of their ‘friendship’ and especially how the two girls’ lives have twisted over the years.

Yes the plot is a cliche. Rich Boy, Poor Girl.  We have love triangle as well a rich boy, poor girl story.
A rich handsome boy falls in love to poor girl but there is another rich, mean, stupid, ambitious girl who is also in love with our rich guy

As in 2016 I do not find him handsome but if I watched it at a younger age I don't know whether if I find him handsome or not. I mean this subject is relative, someone who is not handsome for me might be handsome for someone else. (just like a lot of girls finding including me Lee Min Ho handsome while the others not finding him handsome)

We watch the schemes she is putting on to get rid of the poor girl so she can be with the rich guy. But she's putting herself into a funny position, she is unwanted, she's still playing games, slanders the poor girl with the help of her ex bf ( who never loved her but just thought she is the daughter of a rich man. as soon as he learns she's the daughter of the driver. he dumps her)

It is also about political corruption. how dad shut his eyes to the things his daughter done just to be a politician.

How a mother wants his son to marry a woman he does not love, as she did not come from a rich, wealthy family and her husbands family never accepted or liked her. For that reason she wanted her son to marry a wealthy girl whose family has got political ties.

This drama makes me to think how families ruin their children's life because of their ambitions, and high expectations.

So Lee Ja Young (Choi Ji Woo) is the hardworking, successful  daughter of a politician's driver  who are living the basement - ground floor of the politician's mansion,  Lee Shin Hee & Lee Ja Young are going to the same high school, while one is hard working the other one is not good at school.

One day Lee Shin asks help from Lee Ja in the exam but Lee Ja refuses but Lee Shin uses another student to stole the money she's holding (Lee Ja)  for her so Lee Ja have to help her..

From that moment on Lee Shin used her to get good grades..

Lee Shin & her mother bribes Lee Jae's family she entered SAT exams for her, she helped Lee Shin to pass all her tests etc etc.

One day while Lee Ja was returning home someone tries to attack her she got saved by Park Seung Jae (a security guard or a police officer) so he gave his card to Lee Ja they start to date, Lee Ja was head over heels until the day she learns the truth behind this,  Park Seung thought that Lee Ja is the daughter of the politician but he learned that she is the daughter of a poor driver.  So he left her and starts .

On the other hand there is a guy Jung Hyun Woo ( Ryu Shi Won) whom Lee Shin has a crush on since she was 10, and she has hopes to marry him one day..

He coincidentally Jung Hyun Woo comes across with Lee Ja and he spits coffee over her, and he offers her to take her top for dry cleaning, she refuses, he gives money she refuses.

He falls in love with Lee Ja, follows her, he even works in a restaurant she is working just to be close to her, he finds her a job as a private tutor to teach his cousins.

His parents were happy that he is now working trying something for himself, his aunt was happy from Lee Jae, until Lee Shin split the beans that he loves Lee Jae and she comes from a lowly family.

It took Lee Jae long time to accept Jung Hyun Woo's love. She eventually accepts his love and her feelings towards him.

Lee Shin also uses Lee Jae's ex Park Seung Jae to break the couple, with a lot of unsuccessful attempts.

Jung Hyun Woo's parents disapproves Lee Jae as she comes from a poor family, they want him to get engaged with Lee Shin Hee.

He had to agree with his parents however this engagement never happens,  Jung Hyun Woo asks Lee Jae's parents permission to get married with her. They approve, they got engaged.

Park Seung threatens Lee Shin and eventually becomes marketing manager at her dad's company, and asks Lee Shin's dad's to marry his daughter.

By this time Lee Shin  & Park Seung Jae falls in love.

The traffic accident we saw in the first episode happens, Lee Shin was driving but when she caused a death, she carries Lee Jae to the wheel and calls the police.

Lee Jae is now accused of killing one person and putting her love in critical condition, Lee Shin tells her parents that she was the on the wheel, she got scared and anxious so she carried Lee Jae to the wheel thinking that she is death.

But What she did not know is Park Seung was following her and recording the whole accident on camera.

Park Seung even tried to remove the oxygen tube of to kill Lee Jae but this did not kill  her this made her to woke up from her coma after doctors noticed that.

As soon as she wakes up she wanted to see Jung Woo, she told her it was not her on the wheel, but they did not seem like they believed her, she did not gave up, she stood there, she waited by J. Woo's bedside, one day he woke up but he does not remember anything about their relationship, he thinks he is still at the college.  ( typical K Drama adding amnesia to the rich boy poor girl story)

So she did her best for him to remember her, he still does not remember her.

So one night while they were out, she took him to the swings, and he still could not remember her, so she lefts with tears,  Jung Woo runs after her to give her scarf back, but that moment we saw a truck coming towards to her, he screams Lee Jae and boom remembers everything.

One day Park Seung calls his friend and asks him if he does not hear from him for at least 3 days post the package that he will receive to the addresses he mentions.

Lee Shin's father tries to kill Park Seung, and his friends posts the packages.

He managed to get some of them from the people that has been posted but not Lee Jae's.

Lee Jae gets her post before Park Seung arrives and opens up the letter, Lee Jae & Jung Woo watch the recordings together and gave everything to the police.

Shin Lee's dad gets into prison, Shin Lee wrote a letter to her dad who's in prison.  Shin Lee & Park Seung drove their car to the sea, while kissing and kill themselves.

Later on we saw Lee Jae & Jung Woo sitting in the plane holding hands, the camera zooms to the fingers we notice the rings, they are flying to USA for further education.

The Story was great. Although second female lead irritated me (Lee Shin Hi) Park Sun Young is playing as Lee Shin Hi, this the only drama I have watched she was staring.

I actually liked the chemistry between the second leads Park Seung Jae (Son Ji Chang) & Lee Shin Hi (Park Sun Young)

The credits gives you a lot of hints about the drama.

As always like in every K-CN-or TW drama I do not feel sorry for the 2nd leading lady..
Devil's tears, showing themselves pitty.. Oh I saw him first, he's my childhood dream, I love him so you get off, he is mine bla bla bla ..

These girls do not have a pride and their mothers who are clapping every single bad thing their daughter does.

Just because of parents ambitions they do force the leads to do what their parents want not right but it is normal in Asian Culture

If I watched this drama in 2000's at a much younger age I would possibly not liked it. Now I find it brilliant.
